What is the Young Professionals Board?
The Young Professionals (YP) Board at The Store is a volunteer-led service group composed of emerging leaders ages 21 to 40 from across Middle Tennessee. Established in 2023, the YP Board advances The Store’s mission by supporting dignified, choice-based access to nutritious food for those in need.
Members commit to a two-year term, meeting regularly to plan events, support key initiatives, and collaborate with The Store’s staff to drive donations, encourage volunteerism, and deepen community engagement.

Our board is composed of driven, compassionate individuals from a range of backgrounds - healthcare, entertainment, business, education, nonprofit, and more. We are united by a shared belief that access to food is a human right and a desire to make a difference.




YP Board Committees
To help us stay organized and focused, the YP Board is divided into several working committees, each playing a vital role in advancing our mission.
Members may serve on one or more committees during their term.
Events Committee
Plans and executes events that raise funds, awareness, and community support
Membership Engagement
Cultivates and egaged and connected YP Board by organizing social gatherings so members feel supported and motivated
Stewardship Committee
Builds and strengthens relationships with donors, partners, and supporters with a focus on long-term engagement
Social Media & Storytelling
Crafts content to elevate The Store's digital outreach and amplify client and volunteer voices across social media

Membership Requirements
What We Ask of Our Members?
- Support events, outreach, and volunteer efforts
- Serve as a community ambassador
- Collaborate with a passionate, impact-driven team
- Raise awareness about food insecurity
- Have fun while giving back
Member Expectations:
- Serve a 2-year term
- Attend quarterly meetings (75% minimum)
- Join at least one committee
- Complete 2 in-store volunteer shifts annually
- Promote The Store’s work within your network
- Make a yearly financial pledge (any amount)
- Help gather in-kind donations
- Assist with YP Board recruitment and interviews
Application Process
Applications open after Labor Day and are reviewed in two phases:
1. Blind Review — All applications are anonymously evaluated by our Membership Engagement Committee.
2. Interviews — Selected candidates will be contacted via email for an interview.
Final decisions are made before the holidays, with new board member terms beginning January 1st.
