Qualifed Charitable Distributions (IRA Giving)

Make a tax-smart gift directly from your IRA.

If you're age 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) may allow you to support The Store while potentially reducing taxable income and satisfying all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

A QCD may allow you to:

Support neighbors experiencing food insecurity

Potentially reduce taxable income

Satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), if applicable under current IRS rules

Is The Store a qualified charitable organization?

Yes. The Store is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions. Our Tax ID, or EIN, is 81-4247568.

Can I make a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

Individuals age 70½ or older may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from an IRA to The Store. A QCD may count toward your Required Minimum Distribution, when applicable, and the transferred amount is generally excluded from taxable income. Please ask your IRA administrator to make the distribution payable directly to The Store and consult your tax or financial advisor about your eligibility.

Does The Store accept gifts of stock?

Yes. The Store accepts gifts of appreciated stock and other securities. For transfer instructions, please contact Brittney Brown at 615-887-1978 or brittney@thestore.org.

Can I designate my gift?

Undesignated gifts give The Store the greatest flexibility to respond where the need is most urgent and make the strongest possible impact for our neighbors. We are also glad to discuss gifts intended for a particular purpose, program, or area of impact. Please contact Brittney Brown before making your gift so we can talk through your goals and confirm the best way to direct it.

The Store can provide the organizational information and documentation needed to complete your gift, but we cannot offer legal, financial, or tax advice. Please consult your attorney, financial advisor, or tax professional to determine which giving option is right for you.
