From the Stage to the Shopping Cart: The Day After Nashville’s Got Talent

September 5, 2025

Following a successful Nashville’s Got Talent last night, I got to spend the morning in my favorite way: contacting families from our waiting list to invite them into The Store.

Because of the generosity of everyone who showed up to support Nashville’s Got Talent, we now have the funding to welcome more families into our free grocery store.

So this morning, I started making calls—reaching out to families who’ve been waiting patiently for a spot. Many of them have been calling every week, asking if it was their turn. Now, for some, the wait is finally over.

This is exactly what Nashville’s Got Talent was created for.

When we launched the event last year, it was in response to a spike in food insecurity. We needed a joyful, community-driven way to raise funds and take action. Every single dollar raised goes to one thing: food.

This year, that added up to $218,000.

That means more families off the waiting list. More kids with access to fresh fruits and vegetables. More neighbors walking into a space where dignity, health, and community are at the core. It’s hard to describe what a night like that really means—until you feel the impact the very next morning.

We had seven powerhouse performers and two incredible special guests light up the stage. We honored Bruce and Pascale Fagerstrom as our Volunteers of the Year. And we heard from the amazing Stephanie Brodie, a customer whose story and spirit brought the house down.Every guest, sponsor, and volunteer made this mission real.

You didn’t just give—you showed up. And your support made it possible for us to do what we do best: offer choice, nourishment, and a warm welcome to every neighbor who walks through our doors.

We’re also at a turning point. In addition to the cost of food, the biggest constraint we face is space. That’s why we’re working hard behind the scenes on an expansion that will allow us to serve even more families. We’ll be sharing an update on that very soon.

For now, we’re just grateful. And energized. And deeply hopeful.

The morning after Nashville’s Got Talent, the real magic began—calling families from our waiting list to welcome them into The Store. Thanks to the $218,000 raised, more neighbors will shop with dignity, access fresh food, and feel the impact of a night that was so much more than entertainment. Here's how your generosity is already changing lives.

“It Was Hope”: Ms. Kim’s Story Reminds Us What This Expansion Is Really About

At the ribbon cutting for The Store’s second location, it wasn’t a CEO or a founder who delivered the most powerful message—it was Ms. Kim, a grandmother, customer, and volunteer whose story left the crowd cheering and in tears. In this blog post, we reflect on her honest, moving testimony about the emotional weight of food insecurity and the relief she found in dignity, choice, and community. Her words grounded the moment and reminded us: this expansion isn’t just about square footage—it’s about doing more, sooner, for families who deserve more than survival. They deserve support wrapped in compassion—and a future filled with hope.

How We Opened Our Second Location in Just 48 Hours

What began as a tight deadline and a few unforeseen hurdles became one of the most inspiring moments in The Store’s journey. In this blog post, our CEO reflects on the whirlwind 48 hours leading up to the ribbon cutting of our second location—with support from city leaders, volunteers, contractors, and community champions who made the impossible happen. From an empty space in a parking garage to a fully stocked grocery store serving neighbors with dignity and choice, this is the story of what happens when a community refuses to wait to meet a need. The ribbon may be cut, but the work is just beginning.
